Digital nomad insurance pricing depends on your age, the plan tier, how you pay, and which add-ons you select. There's no single "digital nomad insurance costs $X" answer — but current SafetyWing pricing gives a useful, concrete reference point.
Pricing shown is current at time of publication per SafetyWing's own site and subject to change. Confirm current pricing with the calculator below.
What actually changes the price
- Age. Both plans use age-banded pricing; costs rise in older brackets.
- Plan tier. Complete costs substantially more than Essential because it covers routine and ongoing care, not just emergencies.
- Payment structure. Paying for a full term up front (e.g. 364 days) rather than rolling 4-week periods can carry a discount on some plans.
- Add-ons. Optional extras like adventure sports coverage, electronics theft, dental (Complete), or US coverage add to the base price.
- Dependents. Adding a partner or children changes the total, though some providers include young children at reduced or no extra cost.
Essential vs. Complete: the cost gap
The price difference between SafetyWing's two tiers isn't small — Complete runs roughly two to three times the monthly-equivalent cost of Essential. That gap reflects a real difference in what's covered, not just brand positioning: Complete includes routine doctor visits, wellness therapies, mental health support, and maternity care that Essential explicitly excludes. See the full Essential vs. Complete comparison before deciding whether the extra cost is worth it for your situation.
